The Integrated Structural Acupuncture Course for Physicians

 September 23, 2019 – June 8, 2020

It is with great pleasure that we welcome you to the Integrated Structural Acupuncture Course for Physicians.  We are excited about this year’s course and we’re look forward to meeting you.

Before getting started, please make sure that you have completed the required pre-course work, as indicated in the confirmation email that you have received soon after registering for the course.

Here are the basic instructions to start reviewing the online weekly lectures:

• Click on MODULES on the sidebar
• Click on the LECTURE you want to view. The typical lecture will display the resources listed below. NOTE: some lectures will also (or only!) feature one or more video demonstrations!
  1. Lecture Handout – PDF document with the slides of the lecture. The lecture handout can be downloaded and saved on your computer for future reference
  2. Lecture Presentation – Actual lecture. Just click on it and enjoy the streamed slide show!
  3. Tutorial Material – Word document displaying the test questions. We strongly advise you to read the test questions BEFORE you start listening to the lecture: It’ll be much easier to identify the correct answers! We recommend highlighting what you think are the correct answers, and use the tutorial material document as reference when you take the real test. Again, you can download and save the tutorial material on your computer.
  4. Quiz – Real scored test. To take the online scored quiz click on TAKE QUIZ and follow the instructions on the screen!
• Once a quiz is submitted, the checkmark close to the lecture will turn blue so you can easily keep track of your weekly progress.
• Once you have viewed all the weekly lectures, click on EVALUATION (the last item of each weekly module) to complete the weekly survey.

 

Here is some IMPORTANT INFORMATION that you MUST read before you start reviewing the weekly material:

• Although you can review the lessons within a weekly module in random order, we generally advise you to proceed in order from the first to the last.
• The first module – GENERAL COURSE RESOURCES – is not a didactic module and will be populated with various resources as the year goes on. Some of the resources that you want to explore right away are the Basic instructions – HOW TO COMPLETE THE WEEKLY MODULES and Lecture Abbreviation Legend.
• Quizzes are scored and can only be taken ONCE! This means that if you open a quiz without submitting your answer you won’t be able to take it again at a later time and your score for that quiz will be 0%. So, before opening a quiz, make sure you have already chosen your answers (with the help of the Tutorial Material Word document).
• You will have two weeks from the posting date to complete the online tests.  After that period, the quizzes associated with each lecture will no longer be accessible and cannot be taken late. There are no acceptable excuses for failure to take the quizzes: quizzes cannot be reposted.
• As you will see, the archived resources are organized in weekly modules, as if a set of lectures are to be given each week. The didactic resources include PowerPoint lectures, point location images, scientific articles and video demonstrations. These materials are archived and available for review throughout the course as the academic year goes on and will continue to be available through the end of August even after the course officially ends in late June.
• The vast majority of the didactic recourses will be posted WEEKLY. Once posted, they will be available for review 24/7 and as many times as you like until August 31, 2019. Some resources will be there from the beginning. We generally advise against reviewing lectures too far in advance, as this might be confusing and overwhelming.
• All course related questions, comments and information should be asked and shared via the course FORUM (in the sidebar), so everyone can benefit of the conversation. Please keep in mind that it can take a while for our busy staff members to answer your questions, especially as the year goes on.
• Although we’ll communicate with you mainly via email, we will also do so via the website ANNOUNCEMENTS (in the sidebar).
• Finally, it is imperative that you keep up with the online course work (reading, lectures, video demonstrations and tests) on a weekly basis. It is important that you discipline yourself to carve out at least 6 hours from your busy schedules each week in order to view the lectures, take the tests and fill out the evaluation forms in a timely manner. Keeping up with the course material is essential, as each week of lectures you miss accumulate and can quickly become overwhelming. Remember, missing one week of lectures will mean that the following week you somehow have to find 12 hours of time to keep up. If you do not, this will adversely affect your weekend live hands-on practice experience and can hinder your learning and the progress of the classmates in your group. As the year progresses, the clinical groups will be sorted based on our assessment of your knowledge and skills so that a student who is behind does not impair the learning of those students who have kept up.
